Gerard F. Corbett to speak at the World Public Relations Forum

Chair and CEO of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Gerard F. Corbett, will share his four decades of experience gained in technology, corporate communications and public relations when he addresses the World Public Relations Forum in Melbourne in November.

Corbett’s impressive career began in the Silicon Valley as a scientific programmer at the NASA Ames Research Centre and he has since continued to grow his extensive portfolio of expertise across Fortune 200 firms, his own thriving business and he sits on the Boards of numerous corporations and non-profit organisations.

In 2008, he found Redphlag LLC, a strategic public relations, marketing management and executive coaching consulting firm, and has been operating as the company’s CEO since. He also serves as the Chief Marketing Officer for Producers Forum, Inc., a real estate Web startup.

Prior to that, Corbett was Vice President of the Branding and Corporate Communications Group for 13 years and General Manager of the Web Strategy Centre of Hitachi LTD., a $100 billion Tokyo-based technology company.

Previously serving several leading Fortune 200 firms, including Loral Corporation, ASARCO Incorporated, Gould Inc. and International Harvester Company, he was also a Program Manager and Senior Account Executive with the public relations firm of Creamer Dickson Basford in Providence, R.I.

Corbett has been a member of PRSA for 35 years and is also accredited in Public Relations (APR) and a Member of the PRSA College of Fellows.

In addition to his other roles, he is a senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics; a Member of the Board and past President of the International Advertising Association/West and a Member of the Arthur Page Society, National Investor Relations Institute, National Association of Science Writers, San Francisco PR Roundtable, New Your PR Society, International Coaching Federation and Kappa Tau Alpha, the National Journalism Honour Society. Corbett is also the Secretary and a Member of the Board of Directors of Kids’ Turn, a San Francisco-based non-profit organisation focused on families in transition.

Corbett started his career with a Bachelor’s degree in public relations from San Jose State University and an A.A. in electronics engineering from the Community College of Philadelphia.
